New Map Tip! The Capilano River Fishing Locations
The Capilano River doesn’t have a lot of fishing locations because of private property and steep canyons with limited access points. These locations include both Non-Tidal and Tidal locations, so ensure you have the valid fishing licenses based on location.

We had some out-of-town family visiting so I figured a fun West coast activity would be to explore the Boundary Bay tidal flats and pick up some Dungeness crab for dinner. This trip includes some underwater footage of crab and jellyfish.
Pikeminnow Fishing – Garry Point Park
My son, nephews and in-laws went out to Garry Point Park next to Steveston village for some Pikeminnow fishing. This was our first fishing expedition here and it was a success!
English Sole (Flatfish / Flounder) – Beach fishing in West Vancouver
I had a short window of time to get out of the house and do some beach fishing, so I explored a new spot in West Vancouver near Cypress Creek. I caught and release a small English Sole (which is very similar to a Flounder) and came across this small snake in the rocks.
Ambleside Beach Fishing – Late July 2016
July 30th 2016, I was heading down to the beach with the family so I brought my waders and beach tackle for a quick last minute fishing trip. This was my first time out on the beach this season and fished for about 1.5 hours.

Bar Fishing Locations on the Lower Fraser River
Bar fishing is opening up on the Fraser River August 1st (we hope), and to help you get ready there’s a new InstaTip on Bar Fishing Location in the Lower Fraser River (Richmond to Agassiz). All of these locations can be accessed without a boat.
Capilano River – Summer Coho Salmon
It’s mid/late July, 2016 and the Coho Salmon are moving up the Capilano River in North Vancouver, BC. On this trip, I did a quick early AM stop at the Cable Pool near the Hatchery. We haven’t seen any rain recently so the river level is very low so this makes for very difficult fishing. Reason being, there are no new fresh fish coming into the system with the low river levels, and the ones that are in the system are very pressured/closed mouthed.

Largemouth Bass in lower Fraser Valley
There are hundreds of little random ponds all over the lower mainland & Fraser valley area, many of which have Largemouth Bass. I haven’t done much bass fishing here in BC, but figured I’d try some of these ponds.The trip ended up being a nice change up from Salmon.
Spring Sturgeon on the Fraser River
We had some family in from Manitoba who love to fish, so what better idea than to take my second cousin Joe out to the Fraser River to fight some Sturgeon!?
