Waders for River Fishing Season

I’ve been using iWader fishing waders on BC rivers for the last 7 years. This review is of their updated line of waders specifically the custom sized D2 Chest Waders. If you’ve watched some of my YouTube channel and river fishing videos you’ve likely seen me wearing iWaders. In my upcoming Fall season river videos you’ll be seeing a lot of these new custom sized iWaders and jacket in them.

Custom Sized Waders are the way to go

The D2 custom waders take your sizes for: waist, chest, hip, inseam and foot. I’ve really enjoyed the comfort of a custom set of waders as I’ve always had some feature of waders that has been misaligned for me. For example, when I’ve bought waders in the past there often in generic sizes like: Small, Medium, Large & Extra Large. I often fall into the medium to large category and find that that some of the sections on the waders are not suited for my body. For example, the length will be a few inches too long so the waders are scrunchy in the legs, or the chest is WAY to wide so I’ve got this baggy top. If you’ve had any misaligned waders like this you’ll appreciate the custom waders!

Price Point of Custom Waders if they even offer them

Most wader companies do not offer custom sizing. But for the ones that do, their prices points are outrageous in my opinion. But I do realize they are taking specific requirements for a single set of waders and that does add a lot of time and costs for the manufacturer. That all said, I haven’t seen a better value for custom waders than iWaders D2. They do offer cheaper standard waders (which I still have btw), but from now on I’m sold on wearing custom sized waders.

Stretch-ability

iWaders are made with a trademarked stretch material called GT-STRETCH. This feature has been one of my favorite details on these waders, especially as I do a TON of hiking along river banks and steep cliffs. The stretchable material is much more comfortable to hike and climb in. And as per the usual with higher end waders its a breathable material too. This is especially nice for those warmer days and not sweating my b***s off.

Waterproof Wader Pockets

There are two pouch sections on the front, there is a large wide catch all pocket and hanging in that main section there is another water proof smaller pocket that’s perfect for my phone and car keys. This secondary smaller pocket is really piece of mind to ensure these pieces don’t get wet in case I take a little fall or do something stupid (not uncommon) in the river.

Long lasting waders

As mentioned at the beginning, I’ve been using these waders for the past 7 years. I have 3 pairs, one of which is an extra for friends to wear. My first set is still 100% in use too, the only holes I’ve got are tiny pin holes, which can be repaired with the patches that come with the waders. I’ve never had any major tears on these waders, and I’ve caught them many times on fallen trees and rough rocks scrambling around in the bush.

I would highly recommend the new custom sized D2 hip waders from iWader. Bang for your buck I’d love to hear if anyone out there can find a better wader that has a custom specs and quality for this price point.
