I did some exploring around the Minnekhada Park Ponds. This was my first time to the area, and really didn’t know where to start. It was one of the hottest days of the year and as a result didn’t see much fish activity on the water, as I’m sure the Bass were bedding down deep. That said, I did get one little Largemouth Bass to bite! Boom, first Largemouth Bass in BC.

Setup: 7 foot Mitchell spinning rod, and Mitchell spinning reel spooled up with 10 lb Seaguar InvizX fluorocarbon mainline.

Bait: The lure I used was a 5 inch pumpkin green Senko that was Texas rigged on a 4/0 worm hook.

Water Conditions: Pond water clarity was poor to ok with visibility around 2 feet.

Weather: Was one of the hottest days of the year. In the valley the temperature was over 30 degrees Celsius.
