My first river Salmon trip was at the Chilliwack River, and I figured it should be the same with my son Asher (at 10 months old). We’re toward the end of the Pink Salmon season here on the Chilliwack river and they were literally everywhere. Unfortunately, we didn’t get into any clean fish to keep this day. But having non-stop action is always fun. All fish were caught with a large pink spoon from Trophy Tackle.

I used a 8’6 foot Shakespeare Ugly Stik spinning rod with a 2500 Shimano Sahara spinning reel. The mainline was 10 lb Maxima Ultragreen. All fish were caught with a 2/5 oz Pink Bubble Gum spoons from Trophy Tackle. Simply casting and mixed retrieval speeds was the ticket. There were so many fish in the system that in certain areas there were unintentional foul hooking.

Water Conditions: Water clarity was quite high where we were fishing (approximately 4-6 feet).

Weather: Overcast day with scattered showers. The air temperatures was a little cooler around 6 degree Celsius.
